# Add Template

This page creates a new GDAP role template. A template groups together the role mappings you have already created on the roles page, so that the same set of permissions can be applied consistently to every invite and onboarding.

| Field                     | Description                                                                                               |
| ------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Template Name | The name for the template. This is the value shown when selecting a template elsewhere in CIPP. Required. |
| Select GDAP Role Mappings | The role mappings to include in the template. At least one mapping is required. |

{% hint style="info" %}
Role templates are used to create new GDAP invites for your customer tenants. Make sure to select a template that matches the permissions you want to grant.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
Only mappings that already exist on the [Role Mappings](/user-documentation/tenant/gdap-management/roles.md) page can be selected. If a role you need is missing, create the mapping first and then return here.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.cipp.app/user-documentation/tenant/gdap-management/role-templates/add.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
